The Art Museum Education Concentration includes a practical apprenticeship in an education department in a New York City museum to gain hands-on experience teaching in the galleries and supporting program management. Students will have the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge of museum education pedagogy, audience engagement strategies, and writing skills in actual museum settings. The apprenticeship includes an introduction to object-based learning and regular reflection meetings with CCNY faculty where students will reflect on their experiences through analytic papers connecting theory and practice. Apprenticeship placements will be made in conversation with students and museum education staff members.
